FAQ
The Healing Place
How do I know if a therapist is the right path for me?
It can take time to find a therapist who is a right fit for you. Reading through their websites and bios can help, as well as having a consultation call, which many therapists offer free of charge. However, all of that is still not a guarantee and it may still take time. The healing process takes time - it’s a journey - and requires consistency, so it makes sense that it won’t all be unpacked in just a few sessions. Each person’s journey is unique. I recommend strongly that you trust your instincts and if you've been meeting with a therapist and it doesn't feel helpful, you can always share your feelings with them. If this is not effective, there are many other therapists to chose from, so keep looking until you find the right fit! It's worth it!
In what step of the divorce process is best for me to meet with a therapist and why?
Any phase in the divorce process is helpful to meet with a therapist. In the beginning, it may help you clarify whether or not you want to divorce or continue working on the relationship, and to receive support through the process. Going through divorce is a very difficult process and is full of transitions, changes and grief and the more support you can have through that process, the better. Additionally, after divorce, people still need support in navigating all the newness, as well as the continued relationship with your ex-spouse, especially when you have children together and aim for healthy co-parenting. It’s going to take time to reconnect with yourself. Navigating the different stages of that with therapeutic support can be invaluable.
Whether I'm a breadwinner or a stay-at-home mom, what value will I get out of working with you?
I support women in connecting with themselves in a new way, cultivating a relationship of love, nurturing, and respect. This enables my clients to also relate to others in their life, thereby improving their relationships in many areas. This is done through work we do together in sessions, and work you do on your own in-between sessions. We work towards helping you connect with your own feelings, needs and wants and setting appropriate boundaries with yourself and others. Oftentimes, the growth you can experience through this work will be evident in multiple areas of your life.
How do I afford this if I am a stay-at-home mom or don't have access to the finances?
Many therapists, like myself, are in network with insurance companies, in order to make therapy more accessible, and many offer reduced rates to those who ask and qualify. There is a website called Open Path Collective where you can also find therapists who are offering reduced rates.
